Matthew Baker

Founder / President

Matthew is a third generation machinist. He can remember running a CNC lathe at 8 years old, supervised of course, in his families small tool and die company in St. Louis, Missouri. He started working in the shop unofficially at the age of 13 during the summers off. He learned to run the saw, then the manual lathe, then milling machines and grinders. By the time he graduated he had helped establish a shop curriculum for his shop teacher, and helped level the machines for the school. Matthew also designed a machined a small jet engine, winning the state manufacturing fair for Missouri in 2014.

After high school Matthew spent the next 5 years building tooling for military aircraft side by side with his father, a 30 year veteran himself. In that time he learned how to machine, build, and inspect to the highest level of accuracy. Matthew was trained in aerospace contract management, AS9100, quoting, procurement, machining, processing, kitting, and shipping. After leaving the family business with the goal of working at SpaceX, Matthew found himself in Merritt Island, Florida. Here he excelled in automating processes for some very large aerospace components. Matthew’s programs and strategies were able to decrease scrap rates and cycle times significantly.

After 3 years Matthew had an opportunity to join SpaceX’s Dragon Ground Operations team. As a spacecraft integration technician, Matthew directly contributed to 12 missions to the international space station, and 2 free flyer missions. Matthews eye for detail was noted and promoted in his time at SpaceX. He gained many notable qualification over his 2.5 years with the Dragon team.

Matthew is dedicated and hard working. He will do whatever it takes to help you achieve your goal!
